Santa Cake
Why should Santa remain a myth after all these
years! This festive season, bring him into life with a Santa cake.
Ingredients
For the cake:
- All-purpose flour- 2 cups
- Cocoa (Unsweetened)- ¼ cups
- Baking powder- ½ tsp
- Kosher salt- ½ tsp
- Baking soda- 1 tsp
- Red liquid food coloring- 1 tbsp
- Granulated sugar- 3/2 cups
- White vinegar- 2 tsp
- Pure vanilla extract- 1 tsp
- Eggs- 2 pieces
- Buttermilk- 1 cup
- Butter (Non-salted)- ¾ cups
For Decoration
- Chocolate wafer cookies- 3 pieces
- Red gel food coloring
- White fondant
- Black fondant
- Gold food coloring spray
- Cornstarch (It will be used for
the surface)
For frosting
- Cream cheese at room temperature-
18-ounce package
- Confectioner’s sugar- 450 grams
- Butter (unsalted)- ¾ cups
Steps
- Take a 13 * 9-inch cake pan and
line some parchment paper on it. Make sure that you leave 2-inch overhangs
on both of the long sides of the rectangular pan. Now, oil the parchment.
You should also heat the pan at 180 degrees Celcius.
- Take the flour, baking soda, salt,
baking powder and cocoa in a bowl. Now, whisk them properly. You can use
an electric mixer for the purpose. Add vanilla, vinegar, butter, sugar,
and eggs (one by one) to the bowl. Mix them until the product becomes soft
and creamy.
- During the mixing process, you
will have to add flour (not all together) and buttermilk. Make sure that
you do not overuse any of these. Try to incorporate the ingredients with
the mixture.
- You can now take the batter in a
baking pan and bake it in the oven for 30 to 35 minutes. Let it cool on
the container itself for 10 to 20 minutes. After that, you can use the
overhangs of the paper to lift the cake and transfer it to somewhere else
for complete cooling.
- Now it is time for the frosting!
Start by beating cream cheese and butter by an electric mixer. Do so until
the result is fluffy. Also, beat sugar for about 2-3 minutes.
- Take the mixture of the previous
step in a piping bag. Now, tint a portion of its red. Then spread it over
the cake and freeze for about 10 minutes.
- Now let’s decorate the cake. With
the remaining frosting, make a strip through the middle parallel to the
longer sides. Add cookies at the top and bottom. They will represent the
button of Santa’s shirt.
- Take a white fondant of a 3-inch
size. Cut out the center and spray it with gold coloring.
- Take the black fondant as the same
size as the white portion of the shirt, but shorter in length. Place it
between the cookies that represent the button.
- Put the golden cutout fondant of
step 8 at the junction of black and white strips.
